The Shops at Nanuet (rebranded to Nanuet Town Centre in 2025) is an open-air shopping centre in Clarkstown, Rockland County — about 60 minutes south of Woodbury Common. Over 50 stores sit along Route 59 and Middletown Road, mixed with restaurants, a Regal cinema and year-round community events.
It’s an outdoor format — wide walkways, seating, landscaping — which makes it pleasant on a nice day and miserable in winter or heavy rain. The tenant mix leans mainstream: Apple, Sephora, LOFT, Athleta and similar names, plus a Stop & Shop supermarket on one side. Locals use it as much for summer concerts and holiday events as for shopping.

Directions & Location
The centre sits at Exit 14 off I-87 on Route 59, which makes it simple to reach from Rockland County, northern Bergen County (NJ), or Westchester.
Drive times: about 45 minutes from Palisades Center, 30 minutes from the Mario Cuomo (Tappan Zee) Bridge, and about 60 minutes from Woodbury Common Premium Outlets. That makes it a natural stop if you’re combining Woodbury with a second shopping day closer to the city.
By transit: Rockland Coaches routes 11A and 20 stop nearby, and Transport of Rockland routes 59 and 93 both serve the area. The NJ Transit / Metro-North Railroad station in Nanuet is a short ride away.
Weekdays are the quieter option. Weekends bring a busier, more social atmosphere — especially when there’s an event running.
Parking
Parking is free and spread across multiple surface lots. The open-air layout means you can usually park close to the store you’re heading to. Overflow parking is available next door at Stop & Shop.
The lots fill up on weekend afternoons in December and during big events — arriving before noon usually avoids the crush.
The Nanuet Town Centre Experience: Open-Air Shopping Reimagined
The centre was rebranded in 2025 under new ownership, replacing the old Nanuet Mall name. The rebrand came with a refresh of signage, landscaping and event programming.
The open-air format is the biggest practical difference versus nearby Palisades Center. It’s great spring through early autumn; less great in January or during a summer thunderstorm. Seating zones and covered walkways help, but bring a coat in cooler months.
The event calendar runs year-round: summer concerts, Halloween trick-or-treat, holiday markets, and free fitness classes. The official events page has the current schedule.
Most of the sit-down restaurants have outdoor patios, which makes the centre a reasonable choice for a long lunch between shopping and a movie.
Curated Retail Mix Featuring Your Favorite Brands
The tenant list runs heavily toward mid-tier national chains with a handful of independents. It’s not a luxury-designer destination — for that, keep going to Woodbury Common.

Many restaurants feature outdoor seating areas. You can enjoy your meal al fresco while soaking in the center’s vibrant atmosphere. Nearby on Route 59, you’ll also find the newly opened Chick-fil-A. As Rockland County’s first stand-alone location, it’s perfect for a quick stop before or after shopping.
Entertainment and Events
Regal Cinemas Nanuet: Modern Movie Experience
Regal Cinemas Nanuet is on the upper level — recliner seating, digital projection, the usual Regal chain-wide offerings.
Local residents campaigned to keep this location open during Regal’s 2023 financial restructuring, which is worth noting: this is one of the multiplexes the community actively fought for. Parking is free and you can walk straight from the restaurants to the cinema.
During summer months, don’t miss the $1 Summer Movie Express. Family-friendly films screen on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
Year-Round Community Events
What truly distinguishes Nanuet Town Centre is its commitment to community experiences. The center hosts engaging events throughout the year.
Summer: the Weekly Picnic Series runs on Thursdays with live music and DJ sets, plus petting zoos, pony rides and bounce houses for kids. The Summer Concert Series books local bands and tribute acts.
Fall: Halloween trick-or-treat night draws big crowds. Pumpkin crafts and cider stalls run through October; beer gardens pop up for adults.
Holiday season: Santa photos (including sensory-friendly sessions and pet photos), local-artisan holiday markets, and seasonal décor from mid-November through December.
Throughout the year: movie premieres, free fitness classes, and artisan markets on rotating weekends. Most community events are free.
A Vision for the Future: Mixed-Use Lifestyle Destination
The 2025 ownership change came with a multi-phase redevelopment plan that goes beyond the retail tenant mix.
Planned additions include residential apartments on the property and a 1.25-mile walking loop — both aimed at making the centre something closer to a mixed-use neighbourhood than a pure shopping destination.
Three pad sites are earmarked for new restaurants or service tenants. Golf Lounge 18, an indoor golf simulator venue, has already signed on.

Explore Nearby Shopping Destinations
If you’re already in Rockland County, Nanuet pairs well with a couple of nearby shopping destinations:
Palisades Center (West Nyack, ~45 min) is a four-level indoor mall with 200+ stores, a ropes course and bowling. Better choice if the weather’s bad.
Woodbury Common Premium Outlets (about 60 min north) is the luxury/designer outlet option — 250+ stores including Gucci, Prada and Burberry. Check our transportation guide for the bus from NYC. The Westchester in White Plains (~30 min) is the upscale full-price alternative.
Rockland County’s Community-Centered Shopping Hub
For Rockland County locals, Nanuet functions as much as a community gathering place as a shopping centre — and that’s reflected in the event calendar more than the retail mix.
The 2025 rebrand has gone better than similar rebrands in neighbouring counties, which is worth saying — a lot of US “lifestyle centre” conversions stall. This one appears to be pulling foot traffic back.
If you’re planning a Hudson Valley shopping trip that includes Woodbury Common, Nanuet is a realistic day-two if your main interest is everyday brands or you want an outdoor centre with food and a movie in one spot.
